In general
S88 is a standard for batch processing industries. It can also be applied in
discrete and continuous processes that require a certain amount of
flexibility. The S88 models and terminology are developed for the control of production
processes. So product and production are the focus of S88.
The S88 standard is intended for:
1. people who are involved in the design, construction or execution of batch
processes;
2. people who are responsible for the development of batch control and the
associated software;
3. people who are involved in the design and marketing of products in the
area of batch control.
